KITTEN CARE AND FEEDING SCHEDULE
Is required to be agreed to prior to adoption

YOU MUST QUARANTINE YOUR KITTEN UPON ARRIVAL FOR TWO WEEKS, DO NOT HANDLE
OR ALLOW ANYONE TO HANDLE WITHOUT FIRST WASHING THEIR HANDS TO AVOID CROSS
PET CONTAMINATION.
BUYER  AGREES THAT FAILURE TO DO SO WILL VOID ALL HEALTH GUARANTEES.

All animals you own prior to kitten entering home are required to have all shots and booster
vaccinations up to date and be free of felv and fip and corona virus prior to kitten entering new
environment or kitten health contract is rendered null and void.
We recommend testing your other cats to insure they are not carriers of the diseases listed above.
A simple snap test is about $45.00, cat can carry corona virus without symptoms and give it to
your kitten and 1 out of 5 cats with develop feline aids from exposure to corona virus.
We will not replace any kitten that tests positive for Corona Virus or any other disease as our cats
have all been tested and test negative.  We do require your kitten have a complete blood test for
disease prior to replacing the kitten if there is any issue concerning the kittens health.  Corona
and many other diseases or parasite infections cause various damaging effects and symptoms
that can mimic congenital defect symptoms, and the cost is often not paid by a owner for complete
diagnostic testing for a accurate diagnosis for pets unfortunately, because of this the Vet is
forced an opinion based on a guess.
Guessing most often leads in a mis diagnosis especially when it is a Savannah Cat, so we do
require that we be notified immediately so we may assist in helping you solve a kitten issue.

We have had a new owner rush a kitten to the vet as they thought the kitten was making sounds
of anguish and pain while eating, and the vet tried to find a possible problem with the kitten.

The kittens make a wild cat howl while eating their prey and it is an unusual sound most often
found to be cute and neat by new owners.  Because the Savannah owner had never seen a non
hybrid cat make that sound he was scared and worried and the vet had no idea when the sound
was explained to the vet as a sound of pain that it was anything else because they had no
experience with the Savannah Cat.

Because of the above mentioned common diseases found  in cats we recommend you have your
cats tested prior to the kitten coming into the home for aids leukemia and corona virus.
We will not gaurantee the health of any kitten that is allowed free roam outside or is exposed to
infected cats or exposed to any cat that is allowed to go outside and is therefor exposed to many
other possibly infected cats.

The option to vaccinate the kitten with the felv and fip (leukemia and aids) are up to your
discretion and your Dr. but we will not gaurantee a kitten after it has been given the FIP vaccine
as it is proven to sometimes infect the cat and can also make a cat test positive for the disease
which will result in the cat not being protected under the contract if it has a future health issue.
Although there is much controversy concerning such vaccinations and their health risks, We will
not be held liable for any health issues concerning your cat if these vaccines are given.
Further.....
We require you keep the kitten away from all of the other pets for a period not less than two
weeks to insure the health and well being of the kitten and also to help the kitten adjust to their
surroundings with less stress...
This means “Do not give your kitten full run of the house, but limit it to one room.”
This will help the kitten to acclimate to his new surroundings sooner and feel a sense of familiarity
more quickly.

The QUARANTINE zone....

Be sure to have a "safe haven" within your home when you first get your new cat. Stock this room
with food, a litter box, toys, scratching post and a bed. This will give your friend a chance to
acclimate to your home and you some time to cat-proof your house.

The litter box.....

Inexpensive recycled paper litter found at petsmart
Please use paper based litter to prevent any

respiratory and or intestinal problems caused from clay litter.

KITTY LITTER
We use Papurr, We require within the first year and recommend for all following years  that your
kitten have only paper or wood based kitty litter offered to them
(caution though some kitties are allergic or sensitive to pine, if sneezing or watery eyes or nose
occur use paper made litter only).
If you have a paper shredder choose paper instead of plastic at the supermarket and make some
litter of your own to add to the litter you buy for free.  Some ink is toxic so we do not recommend
using inked paper.
Buyer agrees that failure to comply with the litter recommendations voids all health guarantees.
This agreement is important as:
This is lessening the risk of any future respiratory problems in your new pets health that can
result from the use of clay based and dust causing litter, conditions which may result from the clay
and dust causing litters include but are not limited to asthma and Upper respiratory/sinus
infections and clogging of internal organs from ingestion.

Please take note:  If you do not use the exact same litter especially in the re-
homing time.  Your kitten may not know where he/she is suppose to go.
The smell of new litter may confuse them, if they do not have their own box and during rehoming
another cat uses the box.  They may feel they do not have the right to disrespect the other cats
dominant area, and not know where to go.

When there is a litter box issue the savannah will typically, cry while searching the house telling
you about his problem.  a savannah will try very hard to communicate the exact problem and may
go outside the litter box (next to it) or if it is trying to bond with someone in particular it may try and
tell that person their is a potty area problem by going to the bathroom next to them or on the side
of the bed that smells like them.

Please follow directions and if you do not and any issue occurs go back and read your 2 wk,
rehoming instructions and start again.

Feeding Instructions

KITTY FOOD

It is necessary for you to feed your kitten exactly what it has been eating.... No treats, extra’s or
anything different for at least the first month...  The re-homing stress will likely produce a bit of an
upset stomach and your kitten may have a few loose bowel movements for a few days, blood may
even appear in bowel movement if the kitten has a very stressful transition period.  It is important
that you keep the kitten on the exact same feeding schedule it has been on to resolve these
possible complications as soon as they occur.  If you choose to disregard these requirements the
kitten can get a nasty stomach infection and can possibly die from dehydration due to severe
diarrhea.
The buyer  agrees that failure to comply with keeping the exact feeding schedule and food
specifically instructed by the seller will result in all health guarantees being rendered null and void
and unenforceable in a court of law in any State.

NEVER GIVE A CAT MILK OR DAIRY PRODUCTS.... THEY WILL DRINK WITH PLEASURE....
BUT IT IS TOXIC FOR CATS AND WILL GIVE THE CAT A SEVERE STOMACH/BOWEL
INFECTION....

YOUR KITTENS FEEDING SCHEDULE.

Your kitten has been weaned from its
mother prior to leaving our care.
Science Diet Kitten Formula Dry
(available at petco/petsmart is our complete
nutrition dry food of choice),
We now make our own kitten food
due to the commercial food scares recently.

This is home made food recipe you are free to make for your kitten if you choose to feed him a
non commercial made food, it consists of fresh and organic meats
if possible and organic
vegetables.
1 lb fresh ground turkey
1 lb ground chicken - ground w/ bone ( we use breast as it is easy to grind breast bones)
1/4 cup brown rice (stewed with turkey)
1/8 cup parsley or 1/8 cup spinach chopped fine into about a tablespoon  (add to entire mixture)

1/8 cup dried smelt or dried shrimp (ground in with raw chicken w/ bone.)  (CALCIUM RICH)
this additive is calcium rich but you may also add bone meal.  Make sure that contains no corn
and wheat additives if you are making this for a cat due to sensitivity to commercial foods.

2 tablespoons of plain yogurt. ( MIXED INTO TURKEY RICE STEW FOR GRAVY)
We use a $99.00 grinder not intended for bone --- so, we only use breast bones as they are the
softest, the grinder goes through them the same as meat.
WHEN IN SEASON ( AS WE ARE IN CALIFORNIA AND THEY ARE ABUNDANT) We also include
avocado to the mix, Please note that the pit skin leaves and bark of an avacado fruit and tree are
poisonous to a cat (the flesh of the fruit is poisonous to some birds as well.  They are a highly rich
in nutrient food source and the kitty's do like them add sparingly.

At this time we will be feeding the kittens, boiled or broiled chicken and turkey in the morning and
evening each day and they will have science diet dry food available to them at all times with fresh
water to eat throughout the day, we may also be feeding the kittens Canine Caviar 100% all meat
Turkey in lieu of cooked meat.
.
The kittens may be given kmr formula as a supplement to breast feeding between 5 to 8 weeks of
age.
Kittens do and must have water available to them at all times. We use purified tap water.
Please take note:
If you have another food of choice you wish to feed the kitten please wait until the re-homing
stress has ended, and gradually mix daily into the food the kitten has been eating until it is eating
the food of your choice.

YOUR KITTEN HAS BEEN BEING GIVEN  A VITAMIN SUPPLEMENT DAILY
4  WEEKS OF AGE DAILY

We suggest you feed the kitten 1/2 cooked ( broiled or boiled chicken chopped fine or Canine
Caviar 100% turkey as a supplement to the dry food.

The cost of making the food above is about 30 to 35 cents per can.
Not including the cost of the grinder.
Cats need calcium so if you do not grind the bone, you will need to make sure the kittens diet has
another source of calcium.

Do not add tuna as the level of mercury is much too high for kittens.

Between 8 and 12 weeks a kitten feeding schedule will be individually developed for your kittens
tummy and needs, you will receive notification of what your kitten has been eating, as with human
children, our feeding schedule is subject to change and compromise based on the needs of the
individual kitten.

This has been your Food report on what the kitten is eating with success based on healthy bowel
movements and growth.
The need to change to another kitten food may be evaluated at this time if the weaning to
Science diet results in tummy trouble, elimination of  can food and  small portions of chicken
instead once per day may occur at this time if any tummy troubles are present upon the kitten
switching from formula to food...

Because individual evaluation of your kittens needs is in progress until you receive the adopted
treasure, we urge you
Do not buy any food until your kittens individual feeding schedule is confirmed and given in writing
via mail or email. (It has been given above)+
Only  feed exactly what your kitten has been eating.
If you choose to change your kittens food to another food please wait until at least six months of
age and then begin doing so by mixing the other food with the food the kitten currently eats little
at a time, increasing weekly, until he is eating the food you want to keep it on.   The most common
cause of ill symptoms in a cat are from what the cat has eaten, cats cannot eat a varied menu,
they must eat the same thing daily.
Failure to do exactly as prescribed in regard to litter and feeding schedule will result in a void of
all  health guarantee contracts.

Your new Kitten will be leaving our care having a routine feeding schedule.
Observation of your individual kittens bowel movements are taken daily.
A healthy kitten has healthy bowel movements.  Your new kitten will leave our care only upon observation that the
kitten is in sound health and does not have any signs or symptoms of illness.
Some temporary stress symptoms that occur in re-homing a kitten include
diarrhea (do not change food) this will make stress induced diarrhea worse)
sneezing (do not use aerosol sprays, strong perfume, bleach, pine sol, or ammonia while your kitten is in the
room), carpet deodorizers (dust) can induce asthma.
Lethargy (tempt kitty with toys)
shaking (talk soothingly and tempt kitty with a toy) (kitten is well socialized so this if occurs will be temporary.
